Turkish foreign policy and the troubles for NATO and the EU

Turkey pursues an increasingly agressive foreign policy and threatens international cooperation in NATO and the EU. My analysis of the situation appeared in the Dutch monthly paper De Kanttekening.

In Nagorno-Karabakh, Turkey faces France who voiced her solidarity with Armenia. In the Mediterranean Sea, Turkey is involved in a conflict with Greece. In Libya it faces France again, and in Syria, Turkish soldiers confronted US troops.

Turkey’s increasingly assertive and militarised foreign policy causes friction in NATO and the EU, and undermines international cooperation.
