The progressive Dutch weekly magazine De Groene Amsterdammer called the story telling in De droom van Den Haag ‘superb and compelling’.
In a comprehensive review, Thor Rydin recalls the history and the global influence of The Hague as a city of peace and justice. He notes poignantly that the Hague Peace Conferences were not able to prevent all future wars, but that this fact doesn’t diminish their relevance: ‘The Hague conferences didn’t battle against war, but facilitated peace.’
Today such an ambition has become relevant again. ‘[Duerr] argues that we should guard our faith in peace, expand and strengthen the law, and keep dreaming the dream of The Hague.’
